The Maricopa County Board of Supervisors has approved the canvass of the November 6, 2018 General Election. Today’s canvass sends election results from Maricopa County to the Secretary of State’s office for review.
“I want to thank Elections staff for the hard work involved in putting on an election of this magnitude,” said Maricopa County Board of Supervisors Chairman Steve Chucri, District 2, “I also want to thank county leadership for moving swiftly to support the Elections Department after the issues in the August primary; county workers for answering the call to setup and staff polling sites this time around; and our auditors—the internal team and the firm BerryDunn—for their professionalism, speed, and care in offering solutions to the Recorder’s Office that improved the voter experience.”
State law requires the Board of Supervisors to canvass the returns within 20 days of the election. The canvass does not pass judgment on the results, but is a ministerial function certifying that the county is done counting.
