[ARCHIVED] Innovative Jobs Website Goes Live

Millions of people in Maricopa County have a new pipeline to success.  PipelineAZ.com went live this week.  It aims to be the nation’s premier software platform connecting job seekers and employers in a way that will address critical challenges both groups face.

“This project connects people in ways we haven’t seen before,” said Maricopa County Board of Supervisors Chairman Steve Chucri, District 2.  “Job seekers will be matched with jobs that fit their skills, sometimes in industries they never would have considered.  Employers will have access to a better and more diverse pool of talent.  All of this will help us boost prosperity and increase quality of life in Maricopa County for years to come.”

The Pipeline AZ project has been several years in the making.  Developed from a prototype aimed at linking veterans to jobs, Pipeline AZ expands that template to provide workforce resources and pathways to all Maricopa County residents.

The majority of the funding for the project came from the Maricopa County Industrial Development Authority (IDA), an Arizona non-profit corporation that works hand-in-hand with the Board of Supervisors to promote economic development in the region.  Many of the programs receiving grant money this year from the IDA will incorporate Pipeline AZ into their strategic plans.

“We want our community investments to have a wide and lasting impact,” said IDA Executive Director Shelby Scharbach.  “In many cases, the programs we are funding through community grants will be feeding Pipeline AZ, providing users of all incomes and backgrounds a single place to access support services such as career training and additional education.”

The IDA invested $5.8 million dollars over three years to fund development of PipelineAZ.com.
