MCDOT News & Updates

Posted on: March 25, 2020

The Maricopa County Department of Transportation cares about the health of our customers, employees and the community. Our top priority is always safety. Not only the safety of our workers, but also the safety of our industry partners and the traveling public.

The current health challenge does not change our focus on safety or our core purpose. We are still planning, designing, building, maintaining, operating and supporting the transportation system in Maricopa County, the fastest growing county in the nation.

  • Our road crews are still filling potholes, cutting brush, and clearing culverts in advance of the summer monsoon.
  • Our traffic operations team is still monitoring and servicing our traffic signals.
  • Our capital projects are still in the process of being designed.
  • Our projects, which create vital connections in our communities, are still being built.

The dedicated men and women of MCDOT are still working - many are doing so remotely or have jobs they can do outdoors. In all cases, we are following the advice of medical professionals when it comes to social distancing and other efforts to slow the spread of COVID-19. We have updated our Operations Plan, made some changes to the way our permits are processed, started accepting electronic invoicing via email, and temporarily limited some public access to our facilities. We continue to ask the public to report any roadway hazards or issues by calling 602-506-6063 or visiting our website. Keeping Maricopa County roads safe remains our priority. These are challenging times, but overcoming challenges is what we do. You can count on MCDOT to continue working to build connections that improve people’s lives
