To make sure mom stays healthy during pregnancy and has the support she will need before, during and after the baby arrives, our Early Head Start staff work with expectant mothers on aspects of emotional well-being, creating a nurturing environment for the baby and ways to engage the baby’s father during pregnancy, birth and early childhood. Our Early Head Start program offers expectant mothers nutritional counseling, food assistance, oral healthcare, mental health services, substance abuse prevention and treatment, and emergency shelter or transitional housing, if needed.
