To prevent or mitigate the potential spread of COVID-19 in any of the Maricopa County Sheriff Office (MCSO) jails, proactively, Maricopa County Correctional Health Services (CHS) is following the precautions recommended by the Maricopa County Department of Public Health. These precautions include but are not limited to:
All Correctional Health Services staff are self-monitoring daily for fever and symptoms and are being sent home if any develop.
All inmates/patients being booked into a Maricopa County jail undergo supplemental screening at the time of intake to determine the presence of fever, respiratory infection, recent travel, or contact with persons with lab-confirmed COVID-19.
In the event an inmate/patient has a positive supplemental screening, they will be rapidly triaged and transported to a medical facility, if necessary.
Symptomatic inmates/patients are being evaluated by a healthcare provider, placed in medical observation / isolation and are tested if their symptoms are consistent with COVID-19.
Inmates/patients who are exposed to someone with laboratory confirmed COVID-19 are being placed in quarantine and monitored for symptoms.
Correctional Health Services provides medical, dental, and mental health services for all individuals incarcerated within the Maricopa County Jail System.
