Director's Biography

The Human Services Department has announced the retirement of its Director, Trish Georgeff effective as of January 25, 2013. Trish came to Arizona as a VISTA Volunteer and found her home here. She worked for many years in Pinal and Gila Counties, and then, in 1993, moved to Phoenix to work first at the state, then for Maricopa County, where she served as HSD’s Director for eight years.

During her capacity as Director, Trish brought to the department a strong public service background with experience at the local, regional, and state level. She worked in a variety of program areas, including community action, workforce development, housing and community development, and public health. As an experienced administrator, Trish was well grounded in all aspects of human services; including policy, planning, program development, and direct services.

As Trish embarks on her new journey, Supervisor Mary Rose Wilcox wishes her well for her retirement, “Trish Georgeff has been a great champion of the community and a great example of a dedicated public servant. She lived her commitment to greater opportunity for all people. I am proud she came to work for Maricopa County as a capstone to her long career. Of course, her continued support for a wide range of human services will inspire her for many more years. Our county is better off for her years of service.”

Margaret Trujillo, Assistant Director of CJSS, has been appointed as Interim Director. Margaret has served in a leadership capacity in several divisions at HSD and knows the department well; she has also been very involved in the work of the department to create a more integrated, client-centered serviced model.
