Community Development Block Grant (CDBG)

Maricopa County's Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program utilizes approximately $2.5 million annually in federal funds from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) for various programs and activities that provide much needed assistance to low and moderate income individuals, families, and communities. The funding is distributed through an annual competitive application process to participating Urban County communities and community-based social service agencies to help fund various programs and projects.

This program makes a difference in the lives of thousands of people and communities across the County by providing resources to address unique community development needs. CDBG funds can be used to revitalize neighborhoods, expand affordable housing and economic opportunities, and improve community facilities and services. In Maricopa County, residents are benefiting from projects that increase fire protection, deliver safe drinking water, reduce dust, and create safe neighborhood parks.
